Daroca

Capital of the region, with a population representing a third of the territory, is one of the historic-artistic monuments and most important of Aragon.

Daroca was founded by Muslims around 800. His extraordinary situation in the basin Jiloca, configured as one of the major commercial and cultural references of the Kingdom of Aragon in the Middle Ages. Town retains title since 1363 granted by King Pedro IV.

The safeguarding of its impressive walled, Daroca houses a cultural and artistic heritage of the first order which can be seen in the whole evolution of medieval art.
Churches, palaces the same streets or the imposing towers of the wall are testimony to the glorious past of the city.

The tour around the streets enjoy the beauty of theirChurches, Collegiate of Santa Maria and San Miguel. The solemnity of Aragon Mudejar primitive that we admire in the apse of San Juan.
The tower of Santo Domingo and the urban design that invites visitors to stroll through its streets, admiring its monumental buildings and their facades centenarians.

Civil architecture has its greatest exponent in the mine shaft, hydraulic engineering work s. XVI intended to avoid the severe flooding which affected the city.

Daroca has a proud heritage as the Gothic Palace of the Moon, the Puerta del forgave the apse of St. Dominic, sculptural groups as the Chapel of the Corporal, the Virgin Goda or Sponsorship chapel.

Custody of Body reliquary or processional crosses are examples of the importance of gold in the city.
The mural of the church dand San Miguel and the large collection of altarpieces exhibited in museums form a unique pictorial set in Aragon.
